Office 365

Until recently, UnLtd was largely office-based, even though the charity had a large number of field-based staff who often needed to work from home or on the move. This was causing productivity issues so Unltd launched a five-year strategy to change its ways of working and brought in cloud specialist Paradigm Systems to review their IT needs.  Paradigm Systems suggested Microsoft Office 365, a cloud-based version of the Microsoft Office suite of enterprise applications, including Lync Online and Exchange Online. UnLtd staff can now work anytime, anywhere in a public cloud-based infrastructure with Office 365 fully deployed. They can concentrate on their mission to help social entrepreneurs and collaborate more easily using a range of enterprise-level office productivity applications, including unified communications.

Global Desktop Solution

This case study is based on a leading pharmaceutical enterprise with offices in 41 countries and 17,000 windows XP machines on the network, with an average headcount growth rate of 18% per annum, over a 10 year period.

All proposed deliverables were met and the 6-month project concluded 2 weeks early. ROI for the project was achieved in under 1.5 years. Total cost savings delivered by the project are in excess of $600,000 in "hard" cost savings (licenses + service fees) Around 12,000 hours in human labour ("soft") savings are made over a 3 year period, resulting in another $240,000 saved, bringing the total to $840,000. Paradigm won praise from the Global IT Director when he said "The global Desktop Build and Imaging project was our only global project that finished on time and on budget this year, I'm very pleased with the results that Paradigm and our IT engineering department have achieved."

Infrastructure Refresh

The National Lottery Commission is responsible for deciding who will operate the National Lottery. Bids were received from Camelot Group plc and Sugal & Damani UK Limited. Both Bids were rigorously scrutinised to ensure the best possible operator was selected.

Paradigm was engaged to setup the infrastructure required for analysing the bids that were submitted. Paradigm had to deliver a very secure infrastructure that met all the requirements on a very tight and rigorous timetable.

With lots of money at stake, any sort of slippage in the timetable would be hugely expensive. Consultants that are used for analysing the bid are very costly, thus adding to the requirement of a very robust IT system.

The IT system was delivered on time, a user acceptance and testing phase was introduced to discover any additional requirements. A training session was delivered to all involved to make sure the IT system was clear and easy to understand. The project started on time with all consultants able to login and use the system effectively from day one!
